I get asked about weight loss a lot, and one of the most common questions I get is how to lose weight quickly. Many people call me, or hit me up at the local cafe, and ask how to lose a specific amount of weight in a short period of time. Being asked how to lose 5kg in a week is a common question, and I would get asked this at least once a week.
The truth of the matter is this. Most people could lose a 1kg in a week, many people could lose 2kg in a week and there are more than a few people who could lose 5kg in a week. How? I hear you ask? How is that even possible? And my answer requires us to look a little more at a taboo subject.. namely, your poop.
I’ve learnt, from multiple sources, that the body holds anywhere between 5 and 25 POUNDS of fecal matter, in various stages of digestion, in the body at any given time. Thats roughly between 2 and 10kg of poop working its way through your digestive system so its suddenly not so difficult to imagine that you could lose 5kg in a week.
To lose 5kg in a week, all you will really need to do is a colon flush, juice fast, cabbage soup diet or anything that flushes out your insides. But lets be real here, as soon as you start eating real food again you’ll most likely put that weight straight back on. And while you may have lost weight, its entirely possible that you will not lose any fat, or centimetres from your measurements. So its because of this that I wouldn’t recommend doing any of those things unless its been prescribed to you by a health professional for health reasons.
Do you really want to lose 5kg in a week? Or are you just hoping to feel healthier, maybe fit your clothes better, move better, live longer? If thats the case then all you really need to do is eat real food, move often and consistently and be mindful about what you put in your mouth, how much you sleep and how stressful your life is.
